Youtube Made me buy it-Guerlain L’or Primer-Review…Is it worth it???

I’ve been holding onto my thoughts about this one for a while now. I wanted to like it because all of the beauty bloggers told me that I should like it…hell, that I should LOVE it.  I’ll start by telling you what it promises to do…from the Sephora website:

L’Or Make-up Base is truly worth its weight in gold. The 24-carat gold-infused cooling gel sinks into the skin, retaining moisture. Applied to bare skin, this skin enhancer and makeup primer smoothes fine lines and tightens facial features. It also provides an even finish under makeup.

So if you haven’t seen this before take a good look at the pictures, it is absolute beauty in a jar, and I’ll tell you most of the reason I’ve kept it is because it looks gorgeous on my vanity, and it was ridiculously expensive. It retails for $74USD for 1.1oz of product. This a beautiful clear gel with gold flakes in it.

For me, this had no tightening effects and did not smoothe any of my fine lines at all. It didn’t really give me a smoothe base for my foundation either. It was basically just like putting a cooling gel on my face. It does dry down nicely and isn’t sticky but it basically dries down to nothing. The first time I used it I broke out pretty badly, but have tried it since (multiple times) and it has been okay. So if it doesn’t work, why do I keep trying it? Short answer is that I’m praying for it to work so I can feel validating for making such a dumb purchase! Maybe this has worked for others, but sadly not for me. I’d save your money and get a better primer that actually works! I’d give this a D- for effectiveness and an A+ for the way it looks.
